Cleveland gets a lot right, and their dedication to maintaining hiking trails capitalizing on Ohio's natural beauty is one of them. There are dog-friendly hiking trails everywhere, so get out and explore the outdoors together!
1. CVNP - The first and most obvious, Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Drive down to Peninsula and take the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath, or the scenic Ledges Trail, complete with rock scrambling trails if you're feeling brave.
2. Rocky River - Check out Rockcliff Springs, we take our B&T dogs here almost every week. It's a great park to let the dogs get some exercise!
3. Chagrin Falls - Park at the Sulphur Springs Picnic Area and let your dog enjoy a day in the Chagrin River. It's shallow enough to walk in, and it's almost completely shaded!
4. Brecksville Reservation - Park off of Valley Parkway and check out Deer Lick Cave. Not dog related, but weird enough to mention - Brecksville Reservation has a large salamander migration, where they walk to their ancestral breeding pools, so on rainy nights in March when the temperature is above 45, you can watch them slowly jay-walk across Valley Parkway. Bring a flashlight, but not your dog.
5. Hinckley Reservation - Check out the Whipps Ledges Loop Trail! It's a gorgeous hike with cool rock formations, but keep an eye out because some of the trail markers are elusive.
6. Holden Arboretum - 3,600 acre horticultural haven - and surprisingly dogs are welcome here! Note there is an entry fee.
